TALK TO ROTARIANSOn 8 July 2008, Physio-in-charge of NASAM Ampang, Annie Ng, presented a talk on stroke to 43 Rotarians and guests of the Rotary Clubs of Kajang and Puchong during their evening meeting at the Metro Prescott Inn in Kajang. She was accompanied by Shen Chan, NASAM PJ, who gave an insight into NASAM to the guests. NASAM IN THE NEWSFollowing a recent spate of publicity on NASAM on TV2, TV3 and Utusan Malaysia, NASAM PJ received a flood of calls enquiring about our services. Some of the calls were redirected to our clubs which were closer to the callers. NASAM’s latest TV appearance on TV3’s Medik TV was aired on 12 July 2008. It carried interviews with strokee Muthana and his carer wife, Aunty Amy. All this publicity is in line with NASAM’s mission to help as many strokes as possible to recover from the devastating effects of stroke. FILMING FOR WORLD STROKE CONGRESS8 July 2008 saw the filming of new footages for a NASAM video which will be shown as part of Founder Chairman Janet Yeo’s presentation at the World Stroke Congress in Vienna in September 2008. Shots of activities in other NASAM clubs will also be included in the video which aims at projecting NASAM’s holistic approach towards recovery from stroke. DONATION RECEIVEDNASAM Vice Chairman, Sheila Joachim, received a cheque for RM5,000 from Kelab Rekreasi dan Kebajikan NAZA TTDI Sdn Bhd on 12 July 2008. The money was part of the proceeds rasied from NAZA TTDI’s Charity Golf 2008. Held at Saujana Golf & Country Club, donations were also made to several other charities. NASAM PHYSIOS’ TRAININGNASAM physiotherapists will assemble at NASAM PJ from 20 – 23 August 2008 for a Stroke Neurological Rehabilitation workshop conducted by Ms Caren Pearce, Consultant Physiotherapist from Australia who is currently attached to Normah Hospital in Kuching, Sarawak.
