NASAM IPOH’s FOOD & FUN FAIR

NASAM Ipoh’s Food & Fun Fair is taking place at its premises at No : 9 Lorong Pinji, Off Jln Pasir Puteh, Ipoh on 12 October 2008. Be sure you drop by to savour famous Ipoh delectables as well as buy some fresh vegetables from Cameron Highlands.

The craft group has also got a wide variety of beautiful handmade items for sale, so be there to show your support.

STROKEES’ STRONG RESOLVE

Strokees in NASAM Malacca showed their strong resolve in not missing out on their therapy exercises during the 1 month when their Physiotherapist, Imtiyaz, went on leave in July/August 2008. Some of the strokees volunteered the use of their homes where they met daily to continue with their exercises. Such resolve and commitment on the part of the strokees augur well for their recovery. Kudos to the strokees!

NASAM MALACCA’s MOVE

After the coming Raya holidays, NASAM Malacca will be operating from temporary premises just a stone’s throw from the present house while awaiting to move into the new house at Jln Datuk Palembang which will be renovated shortly.

NASAM would like to place on record its sincere thanks and appreciation to Kamsiah Mohammad Bostock who had offered NASAM Malacca use of the present house, rent-free for more than 5 years, in memory of her late parents. Kamsiah was Honorary Secretary in the first NASAM Board.

VISIT BY NEW ROTARY PRESIDENT

The new President of The Rotary Club of Tebrau Foundation, Mr Gerald Quinton Rao, accompanied Rotary International District Governor 2008 - 2009 District 3310, Mr

Edward Burongoh as well as other Rotarians on a visit to NASAM Johor on

11 September 2008. NASAM JB’s Chairman, Mr Phoon Chee Yap and staff gave them a warm welcome.

The visitors toured the centre and observed the therapy session in progress as well as talked to the strokees. They were delighted to see the Rotary Club’s Official Opening plaque on the wall as it marked their initiative in setting up the Rotary Stroke Club which is now NASAM JB.

SPEECH THERAPY OUTING TO ORCHID GARDENS

On 22 September 2008, about 20 speechies, carers and volunteers at NASAM PJ visited the Orchid Gardens. The purpose of the social outing was for the speechies to experience nature, the beautiful orchids and thereafter to discuss the experience. Of course, the good workout from the walk was also beneficial to the speechies.
