12 Mar 2010OFFICIAL OPENING OF NASAM GALLERYThe verandah area behind NASAM PJ club premises was officially opened on 9 March 2010 by En Zukifli Othman, Manager, Communications & External Affairs of BP Asia Pacific (M) Sdn Bhd. The verandah, now called NASAM Gallery, was built using the generous donation of RM90,000 from BP. Present at the opening ceremony were Datuk Peter Wentworth, former CEO of BP; Jonathan Teoh, Creative Consultant of The Truly Loving Company; Toh Puan Dato' Seri Dr Aishah Ong, NASAM's Patron; NASAM Founder Chairman Janet Yeo as well as representatives from sanofi-aventis (M) Sdn Bhd and several guests and supporters of NASAM. After speeches by Janet Yeo, En Zukifli and Datuk Peter Wentworth, Jonathan spoke on the art therapy he had initiated for the strokees last July which yielded the beautiful art pieces that are now hanging in the gallery. The highlight of the opening ceremony was the art demonstration by strokees Thava and Patricia. To kickstart the demonstration, Jonathan invited En Zukifli and Toh Puan to squeeze the paint out of the bottles onto the clean canvas before Thava and Patricia took over. sanofi-aventis pledged RM3,000 for a painting that was on display in the gallery while Chris Low of Thamesa turned up at NASAM PJ on 12 March 2010 with a donation of RM5,000 for two of the paintings. The official opening was widely featured in major local newspapers. MUSIC THAT SOOTHED THE SOULOn 9 March 2010, strokees, carers and volunteers at NASAM PJ enjoyed the soothing music by Joost Flach, an oboe player and Tan Keng Hong, a harpist from Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO). Several staff from the MPO led by their CEO, Karina Ridzuan and also three staff from the Princecourt Medical Centre, spent time interacting with the strokees. The strokees enjoyed the music so much that they asked for an encore. After the encore, the two musicians and MPO staff distributed gifts to each strokee. Our guests were then invited to lunch at NASAM Gallery. GOODWILL AND CHARITY PROGRAMME AT BUKIT ANTARABANGSAPuteri UMNO Bukit Antarabangsa branch held a goodwill and charity progamme on 28 February 2010. The programme consisted of a basic make-up class and sale of beauty, fashion and health products. NASAM Ampang participated in the event to create awareness on stroke and prevention of stroke. Annie and Josephine from NASAM Ampang together with two students from Masterskill helped out at the event. As part of their charity drive, Puteri UMNO has pledged to contribute RM1 to NASAM for every item sold at the stalls on that day. Tunku Rafidah and Jasvindar from NASAM Ampang will attend the cheque presentation dinner at Pusat Khidmat Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang on 3 April 2010. Related LinksStroke Prevention
