GENTING DONATES

On 10 February 2010, Shen Chan represented NASAM in receiving a donation of RM10,000 from Genting Malaysia Berhad's President & Chief Operating Officer, Dato' Lee Choong Yan, in Kuala Lumpur. In conjunction with their 45 th anniversary, Genting made cash contributions to forty-five charity bodies. Light snacks and mandarin oranges were served after the cheque presentation ceremony.

MAGNUM CARES 

As part of their Magnum Cares programme, NASAM received RM1,500 being donations from the boxes placed at specific Magnum outlets in the Klang Valley. Receiving the cheque for NASAM at a ceremony in Sungai Wang on

20 February 2010 was Board member Lesley Hoh. The occasion was graced by the presence of YB Senator Puan Heng Seai Kie, Deputy Minister of Information, Communication & Culture as well as the senior management of Magnum Corporation Berhad.

STROKEES ON TV2

Strokees Kong Choi Peng and Yap Kon Kooi appeared on TV2's Galleri Mandarin on TV2 on 9 February 2010. The show was viewed by NASAM PJ's strokees.

Kong and Yap related their experiences with stroke and how they are coping with daily life.

FOOD & FUN FAIR 2010

This year's Food & Fun Fair will be held on 18 July 2010 at a new venue, the 4 th floor of Jaya33 along Jln Semangat, Petaling Jaya.

There will be the usual wide array of food, games and bargains at the bazaar and jumble sale. Look out for progressive updates.

FESTIVE CHEER

Strokees, carers, volunteers and staff enjoyed the prosperity dish "yee sang" and pot luck dishes at NASAM PJ's Chinese New Year (CNY) party on 23 February 2010. The seven portions of "yee sang" were sponsored by strokees and volunteers. Tunku Rafidah and Kim Tow, volunteers at NASAM Ampang, dropped by to join in the festive cheer. There was a lion dance by strokees KK Yap and Paul Wong, complete with the giving out of mandarin oranges. Song and dance performances by the physiotherapy students were well received.

Meanwhile, strokees at NASAM Kuantan enjoyed their pre-CNY pot luck party on 10 February 2010. Kuantan Chairman, Dato' Ng gave an ang-pow to all present at the party. There were games and gifts for the strokees.

NASAM Ipoh held a pre-CNY celebration from 11.30 am to 12.00 noon for their morning session strokees. Tong sui and pomeloes were served during this half-hour karaoke session.

Strokees of NASAM Ampang celebrated CNY by treating themselves, their carers and students to lunch on 24 February 2010 at Kelab Darul Ehsan.  Following a birthday cake cutting session and tossing of "y ee sang", the strokees enjoyed their meals ranging from soup, salad, main dishes and desserts.

After lunch, a-get-to-know each other game which involved guessing your neighbour's Chinese zodiac sign brought much laughter and joyful participation among the strokees, carers and staff. A group photo was taken before everyone dispersed.

A lion dance was held at Nasam Ampang on 25 February 2010. It was sponsored by strokees Lee Siah Yong, Thomas Yong and Chon Lan Ha.  Fire crackers were sponsored by Lee Siah Yong.

Two lions, one red and one yellow, went around the premises including the office. The strokees gave angpows to the lions and received oranges in return. It was a thrilling and fun experience for everyone watching the performance.
