27 Mar 2009BURSA MALAYSIA’S VISITNASAM played host to five visitors from Malaysia and two from Sapura Secured Technologies on 24 March 2009. The visit is to enable the visitors to learn more about NASAM as well as to understand how the donation of RM87,000 that NASAM received last year from the Bursa/The Edge Rat Race was put to use. Margaret and Shen briefed the visitors on NASAM’s activities and also gave an insight into our set-up via a powerpoint presentation and the NASAM video on Stroke Support in Malaysia. The visitors showed great interest by asking several questions. They were entertained by strokees singing Rasa Sayang and also observed a group speech therapy session. HAIRCUT DAY’S BACKSome strokees and carers at NASAM PJ sported a new look after hair stylist Ken from Coiffure Ken came by on 24 March 2009 to give them a haircut. Ken, introduced by Founder Chairman Janet Yeo, is offering his services pro bono. He will be coming every last Tuesday of the month, so do register on the list which will be put up a week earlier. RM5 collected for each haircut will go towards NASAM PJ’s Kitchen Fund. STROKEES’ SWINGING TIME DOWN SOUTHTwenty strokees, carers and volunteers from NASAM Ampang led by Physio-in-charge Annie Ng, had a swinging time in Singapore from 18 – 20 March 2009. They toured various places of interest including the Science Centre, Merlion and went shopping at Orchard Road. Although they did not manage to attend NASAM JB’s fundraising dinner on 20 March 2009, they very kindly donated a sum of RM260 to NASAM JB for the occasion. NASAM JB’s DINNER RAISES RM67,000Stop Press : NASAM JB’s inaugural fundraising dinner netted more than RM67,000. Congratulations and well done to NASAM JB Committee, the Organising Committee, strokeers, carers, volunteers, staff and all who had chipped in to make the event a resounding success. NASAM CLUBS’ FUNDRAISERSNASAM JB’s successful inaugural fundraising dinner last Friday was a good start to the year. Other NASAM clubs are now busy organizing their own fundraisers, details as follows :- * Ampang – “Party at The Pulse” on 23 April 2009. Be entertained and dance till you drop. * Ipoh – fundraising dinner on 6 June 2009. * Kuantan – “Bake & Buy” on 13 June 2009. * Sabah – Charity Dinner & Show at Sutera Harbour on 17 July 2009. * PJ – Food & Fun Fair on 2 August 2009 (to be confirmed).
