17 April 2009"PARTY AT THE PULSE"Grand Millennium hosted a press conference for "Party at the Pulse", a fundraiser in aid of NASAM Ampang, to be Tickets, by way of donation, are available from NASAM Ampang and PJ. Come for an evening of good fun and entertainment and do good at the same time. There will be STROKEES' OUTINGSOn 3 April 2009, more than 20 strokees and carers at NASAM PJ visited the Orchid Farm at Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur. Accompanied by Tracy and Sujan, the strokees enjoyed viewing the beautiful and colourful orchids at the farm. Later in the afternoon, another batch of strokees went shopping at Jaya 33, a new complex in Petaling Jaya. This time they had the company of two visiting doctors, These outings, normally enjoyed by all, are aimed at instilling confidence in the strokees and to show them that there is life after stroke. "ANIMAL THERAPY"NASAM PJ strokees received some "animal therapy" when they enjoyed the movie, Marley & Me, featuring a loveable Labrador, at TGV in MidValley Megamall on 2 April 2009. INTERVIEW BY NEW LIFE POSTSenior Manager, Margaret Chang, was interviewed by reporters from New Life Post on 9 April 2009. Margaret explained NASAM's mission and services to the reporters. She also highlighted some of the more urgent needs of NASAM as the purpose of the interview is to inform the public of such needs with the hope that well-wishers will come forward to help. SELF-HELP AT BUFFETOn 30 March 2009, NASAM Ipoh strokees had a fun time preparing their own mee soup and ice cendol at a buffet lunch at Syuen Hotel, sponsored by volunteer Ms Yeong. Thank you very much, Ms Yeong. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!Loud, hearty laughter rang through the hall at NASAM PJ on 10 April 2009 as strokees, carers, students practised laughter therapy as instructed by Ms Mahes Karuppiah, a certified laughter therapist. Mahes, who trained with a Master in Mumbai, India told the audience that research has shown that laughter boosts one's immune system. She demonstrated the ways of laughing and soon got the audience to participate in laughing heartily so that they will become positively charged. Many thanks to our volunteer, Min Lee, who had arranged for Mahes' visit. NASAM's 13 th AGMStrokees and their families as well as volunteers who are members of NASAM are invited to NASAM's 13 th Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will take place at 4pm at NASAM PJ.
