FILMING OF NASAM

A film director from Taiwan and a film producer from Singapore together with their camera crew have been busy filming activities at NASAM PJ and Ampang. They have also been visiting strokees and filming their daily activities. Filming at other NASAM clubs may take place in the near future.

NASAM wishes to record its appreciation to both director Wayne and producer Cyndi for their time and efforts which they are contributing probono.

NASAM MALACCA OUTINGS

Strokees in NASAM Malacca had an active time last month when they visited the Malacca Zoo on the morning of ... May 2009.

Having been given free use of the Sime Darby bungalow in Port Dickson as well as a 10-seater van on 25 May 2009, the strokees enjoyed a walk on the beach and even caught a movie. Some strokees commented that it was their first venture to the beach since their stroke.

TESTING OUT RAPID PENANG

An outing on Rapid Penang’s handicapped-friendly bus was recently arranged for the afternoon strokees of NASAM Penang. The trip saw 7 strokees, 2 physio-therapists, 7 students and 10 caregivers visiting the Butterfly Farm and Teluk Bahang Dam.
TLC FAIR

Strokees from the speech group and afternoon group made visits to the TLC Fair held at Bangsar Village on 1 and 4 June 2009 respectively. NASAM is one of five charity partners of TLC, The Truly Loving Company, which receives dividends from TLC’s sale of their quality household and personal care products. The strokees took the opportunity to purchase TLC products as well as walked around the mall.

NEW WHEELCHAIRS

On 4 June 2009, Lawrencce Kwan (President of the Rotary Club of Sri Petaling) and his fellow Rotarians dropped by NASAM PJ to hand over 3 new wheel-chairs. The donation was timely as the current units are worn and have seen better days. Tracy, Shen and Volunteer Coordinator Albert Anthony were on hand to receive the Rotarians and the donation.

STROKE EDUCATION

Rehab Coordinator, Tracy Chan delivered two back-to-back talks on stroke to about 60 employees of Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd on 1 June 2009. The talks were in Bahasa Malaysia and were given in conjunction with Carlsberg’s Supply Chain Department’s “Safety & Health Day”.

FOOD & FUN FAIR 2009

Coupons for NASAM PJ & Ampang’s Food & Fun Fair 2009 are now on sale. The Fair will be held on 2 August 2009 at Taman Jaya from 9am – 3pm.

To get your coupons, please refer to Alice or Nancy (PJ). Coupons will only be available from NASAM Ampang from next week.

Donation of used items (in good condition) are welcomed for our Jumble stall. These could be household items, etc. Donation of items for sale at our Bazaar is also welcomed. We look forward to your support.
