Getting To Know NASAM's Community-Based Service
A team of doctors, nurses and therapists from the Neurological Rehabilitation Unit of Hospital Rehabilitasi Cheras (HRC), visited NASAM on March 18. The aim of the visit was to gain a better perspective of stroke support organisations in Malaysia.
"Following the visit our team has a better understanding of community-based stroke rehabilitation services which provide a seamless transition of care from hospital to the community," said Dr Norhayati Hussein, Rehabilitation Physician & Head of the neuro-rehab unit.
"NASAM with its physical and cognitive interventions and social interaction programmes, is a successful example of empowering stroke survivors so that they can be reintegrated into society. It remains the main avenue and significant pioneer of stroke support. We hope to develop a professional bond between hospital-based and community-based stroke rehabilitation which will ensure better care for all stroke survivors."
